Hand Broom Making Kit
Get ready to make some gorgeous hand brooms! This kit is the perfect companion to my Wicked Clean Broom Making Zine or online classes—and a great way to get all the supplies you need, including enough broomcorn, cordage, and stems for a whole series of handmade whisk brooms.
Your kit will contain around 1.25 lb of broomcorn—enough for 4–5 hand brooms, depending on how big you tie them! You’ll also get a wrapped spool of nylon cord for weaving your brooms. Strong sticks work great for footbreaks, but let me know if you’d like one included—I’ll add a dowel that works well. If you're interested in weaving your handles with stems (traditional Appalachian style), feel free to add them to your kit.
If you’re taking the “Advanced” or handled broom class, you can also add a bodkin (a flat sewing needle) to your kit. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions!
