Brooms were historically made and used primarily by women and children, using broomcorn grown and processed through collective labor. As utilitarian objects, they were used to exhaustion and discarded, leaving few preserved examples and minimal scholarship.

Group Work is a series of multi-headed brooms made using the lauded, studied, and preserved techniques of early high-style American furniture to produce objects of domestic labor. Inspired by the two-headed Appalachian wedding broom, the series expands this form into organic, multi-headed brooms that play with scale, structure, and visual language. In doing so, the work collapses the hierarchy between domestic labor and decorative craft, honoring the people and collective effort required to produce these tools.
