Sunflower Chest

Quarter Sawn White Oak, Walnut moldings, Maple turnings, Iron Hardware

A reimagining of the classic Connecticut sunflower chest, built using traditional 17th-century carving and construction methods. The cabinet features a carved white oak case with walnut moldings, split and turned maple elements, and handmade iron hardware. Historical proportions and decorative motifs are preserved while subtle shifts in form and detail introduce a contemporary sensibility. The piece bridges early American furniture traditions with a present-day approach to surface, structure, and use.
