Out of Rule Day is a collaborative community art project performed every spring in Gambier, OH. A select group of individuals each receive a color coded T-shirt and corresponding list of rules and basic supplies in the middle of the night. Participating individuals must follow the rules they receive for the entirety of the next day. Within that small group, socially determined norms are randomly altered for one day. The slide show below shows the T-shirt and some activities from 2008, below it is the rule sheet from 2009. Feel free to download the rule sheet and alter it to create your own Out of Rule Day.
