Leaning Bench
Cherry - 39” x 19” x 27”
A study in interdependence, this piece transforms traditional Windsor chairmaking techniques into an exploration of shared support. The seats are angled so that each sitter’s backrest is formed by their neighbor, making comfort contingent on collaboration.
Built with overlapping joints, shared stretchers, and disappearing legs, no stool can stand alone—each one borrows and lends structural strength within the grouping. By requiring sitters to lean on one another, Lean-to invites a reflection on the nature of community: stability emerges not from isolation, but from trust, balance, and connection.
